Camp History
Camp Freedom was established in 2006 to provide a memorable camp experience for children in foster or kinship care.
The goal of Camp Freedom is to design activities to develop lifelong skills, promote independence, encourage connections, and nurture friendships. Campers will leave with new skills, nourished self-esteem, and lasting memories.
This camp is made possible through private and corporate donations and grants. Donations help defray expenses related to this camp. Your donation may be tax-deductible. If you wish to help make this camp possible, please visit our donations page.
Camper Eligibility
Children aged 6 - 11 who are in Kentucky foster or kinship care. Children ages 12 - 15 may qualify for a new Counselor In Training program.
Activities
Archery, Air Rifles, Canoes, Arts & Crafts, Fishing, Kick Ball, Basketball, Field Games, and so much more!

Full-time medical staff and certified lifeguards
Cafeteria staff serving three hot meals each day
Traditional recreational camping activities
Indoor restroom and shower facilities
Air-conditioned dormitories
Counselors
All counselors are volunteers. Some are Lions and Leos. Many are high-school and college students, teachers, friends, and former campers. The camper to counselor ratio is 3:1. Background checks are conducted on all staff members 18 years and older.
Volunteers who stay the full week will earn a total of 80 community service hours.
